I have just finished my second batch. the first was wonderful; fresh, zingy, tart, a little bit sweet, with a big ginger kick. I made it from the enclosed recipe, using a juicer. I fermented it for three days and it was fully carbonated in bottles 2 days later, 1.5% alcohol. Second batch is even better, I also juiced a large red chili (the not-super-hot-but-still-pretty-hot kind) and it has a sweet red pepper flavor lurking under the ginger punch, and a bit of a chili kick after the ginger subsides. It is the fizzy equivalent of a potable kickboxer. Highly recommended!

I have just recently acquired a dehydrated GBP from you and today I had my first taste of the first brew. For many years ginger beer has been for me nothing more than a remote memory and I am very pleased to be able once more to enjoy its unique taste. It is a thing which, as far as I know, is unknown here in Spain. I remember, many more years ago than I care to specify,how my mother used to brew ginger beer from a plant in Australia and I have always wondered just how it was done, and now I know. While visiting my husband's family in Edinburgh and Cambridge, I discovered Ginger Beer. Much different than the ginger ale that you find in the States, this ginger beer was fantastically gingery, warm on your throat and incredibly refreshing. I came home and searched for a comparable ginger beer that I could buy in the Pacific Northwest. I could not find anything close to what I had imbibed in Britain. I decided to try my hand at making it and found the Retro Culture website. I ordered a packet of the nightingale strain and have been making ginger beer that even surpasses what we had in the UK! Unfortunately, I've let too many of my friends and family try it. They keep coming back for more. My husband has taken to hiding bottles of it so that I don't give them to people when they stop by. We've noticed they come around a lot more than they used to. My family that lives 300 miles away have asked me to ship them bottles of ginger beer. Instead, I'm supplying them with their own Retro Culture Ginger Beer plants and a recipe to make it for themselves! Thank you for providing such a great product and backing it up with your stellar customer service, as well.
